Women continue to pay a high price when they become mothers, financially, professionally, health-wise and personally. The obvious and hidden costs of taking on caring responsibilities must be made transparent and care work must be upgraded. My work is about strengthening women's financial self-determination and advocating for the improvement of structural framework conditions. We need new role models, a reliable infrastructure for childcare and care, we must end labor market discrimination against care workers and give unpaid work the value it deserves in society as a whole. Not least to prevent maternal and old-age poverty and to protect women from financial violence.
