(EVA)<\/a> has  <strong>10.000 \u20ac<\/strong> donated to the \u201e100,000 Mothers at the Brandenburg Gate\u201c movement.<br>We are setting an example:<br>Maternal health is not a private matter.<br>It is a social task - and a question of responsibility for associations, companies and organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We act,<br>because mothers perform the majority of unpaid care work,<br>because their physical and mental health suffers as a result<br>and because the structural framework conditions for families urgently need to improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anyone who assumes responsibility for people - as an employer, as an association or as a social actor - also bears responsibility for the conditions under which care work is carried out.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The findings on the health situation of mothers are clear - and they affect our entire society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The health situation of mothers is worrying<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mental load and unevenly distributed care work make people ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the 2025 hkk health report, mothers suffer significantly more frequently from physical complaints and psychological stress than fathers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>82 %<\/strong> of mothers report physical complaints<br>(compared to <strong>65 %<\/strong> of the fathers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>31 %<\/strong> of mothers report psychological stress<br>(compared to <strong>16 %<\/strong> of the fathers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>52 %<\/strong> of mothers state that they often suffer from physical pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>31 %<\/strong> regularly feel nervous, anxious or irritable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These figures do not represent individual failure.<br>They are an expression of structural overload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the main reasons for this is the unequal distribution of tasks in everyday family life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mothers care mainly or exclusively:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>to do the laundry (<strong>81 %<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for cleaning (<strong>69 %<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for cooking (<strong>61 %<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for shopping (<strong>66 %<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, mothers take on most of the organizational responsibility in everyday family life - often between <strong>80 and 90 %<\/strong> the so-called mental load tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These include, among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coordinate doctor's appointments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organize birthday presents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get clothes for children<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arrange daycare and school matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This constant responsibility makes it difficult to switch off, prevents necessary regeneration and has a long-term negative effect on health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>53 %<\/strong> of mothers cannot switch off mentally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>30 %<\/strong> often feel overwhelmed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many mothers are also working and have additional responsibilities in their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Motherhood is a health risk factor - if support is lacking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mental and physical health of mothers deteriorates measurably within the first few years after giving birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studies show:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Four years after the birth, the prescription of antidepressants<br><strong>40 % higher<\/strong> than before pregnancy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The risk of depression is <strong>8 % higher<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The risk of sleep disorders is <strong>18 % higher<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The prescription of painkillers increases by <strong>30 %<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The prescription of antibiotics is increasing by <strong>34 %<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The risk of obesity is <strong>41 % higher<\/strong> than before birth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These developments are not an individual fate.<br>They are the result of structural stress - and a lack of relief systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A society that is dependent on care work,<br>must also take responsibility for the health of those who provide it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is needed now<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fair healthcare system recognizes the burdens of care work at an early stage, prevents health risks and creates reliable support structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is why we are calling for 100,000 mothers together with the movement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Targeted relief systems for care workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comprehensive mother-child services in inpatient medical facilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening preventative and advisory services for mothers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the introduction of a national health target <strong>\u201eMaternal health\u201c<\/strong>, to systematically record requirements and further develop care services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These measures are not special benefits.<br>They are investments in health, participation and social stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now is the time for joint action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are donating to the \u201e100,000 Mothers at the Brandenburg Gate\u201c movement,<br>so that the demonstration on <strong>May 9<\/strong> can take place -<br>and thus the health and social challenges faced by mothers become visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our donation is a start.<br>The social impact arises when many institutions act together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That is why we invite you as an association, company or organization:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Join us in making a donation.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Set a visible sign for the health of mothers.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Take responsibility for the social conditions of care work.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Every institutional support shows:<br><strong>Maternal health is an issue for society as a whole.<\/strong> \ud83d\udc49 Support the \u201e100,000 Mothers\u201c movement with your donation or partnership.<br>So that responsibility becomes joint action. <strong>Here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterplace.org\/de\/projects\/168671?utm_campaign=ShortURLs&amp;utm_medium=project_168671&amp;utm_source=PlainShortURL\">Donations<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Sources: hkk Health Report 2025: Mental Load and Maternal Health.
